Gunters Tea Shop

Gunters was considered a fashionable light eatery in Mayfair, well known for its ices, sorbets and confections. A custom grew up that the iced were eaten no in the shop but in the square itself. During a time when ladies could not be seen alone, Gunters became a perfectly respectable place for them to be unaccompanied by a gentleman.
